Structure and working principle of membrane cylinder

The picture below shows the working principle diagram of the diaphragmcylinder. There are two types of diaphragms: flat diaphragms and disc-shaped diaphragms. They are generally made of fabric rubber, steel sheets or phosphor bronze sheets, with a thickness of 5~6mm (1~2mm thick diaphragms are useful).



The function of the diaphragm cylinder shown in the figure below is similar to that of a spring-return piston single-acting cylinder. When working, the diaphragm pushes the piston rod to move under the action of compressed air. Its advantages are: simple and compact structure, small size, light weight, good sealing, not easy to leak, simple processing, low cost, no wearing parts, easy maintenance, etc., DiaphragmCylinderSuitable for short travel occasions. The disadvantage is that the stroke is short, generally no more than 50mm. The stroke of a flat diaphragm is shorter, about 1/10 of its diameter.
