The International System of Units (SI) and its applications
Scope of application\nThis specification is the relevant definitions and general matters of quantities, units of quantities, units, symbols of quantities, unit symbols, and consistent unit systems [especially the International System of Quantities (ISQ) and the International System of Units (SI)] (JIS Z 8000-1, item 1).
Purpose and definitions\nThe main terms used in this specification and their definitions are as follows.
International System of Units (SI)
The International System of Units, designated SI in all languages, was adopted at the 11th International Congress of Weights and Measures.
SI is a consistent system of units related to ISQ.
SI consists of basic units (Table 1) and derived units (Table 2), which together form a consistent SI unit system.

SI prefix\nIn order to avoid values with too large or too small digits, consistent decimal multiples and fractions of SI units are formed together with the prefixes shown in the table below. \n
